Hurray, I am no longer the only girl in Canada who hasn't read a Margaret Atwood book!! And better yet I finally understand what all the fuss is about. Interestingly, this is the second book I've read so far with a character who lives in tree house.
It is a story that takes place in the future...jumps around a bit half in a 1984 type future, half post apocalyptic future. (As a side note I read this at the same time as 1984. Very confusing, I don't recommend it.) I especially liked that the main character went by different names in each time period so it was kind of like 2 different stories. The flow of the book is excellent though, she jumps around seamlessly.
Lots of really cool ideas about the creepy future in here, genetic engineering and such. I would like a pet racunk.
If I didn't know, I would have thought this was written by a man. Not sure why.
First Sentence: Snowman wakes before dawn.
