Jitterbug Pefume - Tom Robbins

Completed June 27 2007 5/5

I read Even Cowgirls get the Blues last year and while I thought it was excellent and loved the writing I thought that there would be Tom Robbins books of different subject matter I would like more. I’m happy to report that I was right. This was easily one of the best books I’ve ever read.
As with most of my favourite authors it’s very difficult to summarize the plot. It took place over thousands of years with several different characters from all over the world, including the god Pan.
There’s just nothing I can say about this book that will do it justice. I will, however, never look at a beet the same way again. This book also made me very curious about Tom Robbins. What are his religious beliefs? What kind of food does he eat? Does he exercise, meditate, etc.? What does he do for fun? I now have an answer for the “if you could have dinner with any celebrity, who would it be?” question.

First Sentence - The beet is the most intense of vegetables.
Last Sentence - And you know what it means: Indigo. Indigoing. Indigone.
