The Quiet American - Graham Greene

Completed July 13 2007 3/5

I love Graham Greene’s writing; I didn’t really like the subject matter of this book.
I don’t generally read war books, and had I known going in this was a war book I most likely wouldn’t have read it. I’m glad I didn’t know because it was definitely worth reading!
I gave it a 3 rather than a 4 because of the subject matter, the writing was worth a 4.
I will read more by Graham Greene, I could see really liking other novels by him. Most of his books do seem to be a bit darker which I am not usually a fan of, but I think it will be worth it.

First Sentence: After dinner I sat and waited for Pyle in my room over the rue Catinat: he had said, "I'll be with you at the latest by ten." and when midnight had struck I couldn't stay quiet any longer and went down into the street.

Last Sentence: Everything had gone right with me since he had died, but how I wished there existed someone to whom I could say that I was sorry.
